Heating and air conditioning not optimized
The hidden cost of hotel operations
This is where the connection between Medialog and Agrid comes in: the occupancy data from your PMS directly controls the heating and air conditioning, room by room. These only consume energy when they are actually occupied.
Your PMS knows the occupancy in real time. Without an internet connection, this data never leaves the booking software.
What the connection actually changes
Agrid is an energy management solution designed for commercial buildings, including hotels. It comes in two parts.
Agrid Copilot
It continuously controls heating and air conditioning room by room. It combines three data sources: the actual room usage (as reported by your building management system), the building's thermal behavior, and the outside weather. No manual intervention is required on a daily basis.
Agrid Connect
It monitors consumption in real time, triggers an alert in case of anomaly and produces CSR and Tertiary Decree reports.
Regarding the savings achieved, we prefer to give you the figures as announced by Agrid, without endorsing them ourselves: its publisher claims a 20% to 35% reduction in energy consumption, and cites a Parisian hotel that measured between 18% and 29% savings over sixteen months. What you will achieve will depend on your building, your equipment, and your occupancy rate. This is the kind of thing that is quantified for your establishment, not based on an average.
The 2027 deadline is approaching faster than we think.
There is one reason to look at this subject now rather than next spring: the BACS decree.
This legislation mandates that existing commercial buildings be equipped with an automation and control system for their heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. The 290 kW power threshold was introduced on January 1, 2025. The next threshold, 70 kW, will be introduced on January 1, 2027 , and will affect significantly more establishments than the first.
Two important points to clarify regarding this decree. First, it is an obligation of means, not of results: the system must be installed, not a specific performance target achieved. Second, no direct penalties are currently planned for non-compliance. An exemption is also possible if the return on investment exceeds ten years, after subsidies have been deducted.
In other words, it's not a regulatory emergency in the strictest sense. But it's a known deadline, sixteen months ahead, for a significant expense that can't be reduced in a week. It makes sense to address it during the off-season rather than right in the middle of reopening.
Agrid is certified GTB class A, recognized under the BACS decree and referenced by the Green Key label.
In practice
The deployment does not affect your existing facilities. Agrid is a fully software-based solution: it utilizes the sensors already present in your building and connects to your existing building management system (BMS). No sensor installation is required, and heating or air conditioning cannot be shut down during installation, which takes less than a day.
Your PMS connection is already available. You don't need to do anything further: it's one of our more than 130 connectivity options . Just give us a call and we'll activate it for you.
Three questions to ask yourself before you begin
- What is the installed capacity of your HVAC equipment? This determines whether the 2027 deadline applies to you.
- Do you already have centralized regulation, or is each room controlled locally?
- Do you know what percentage of your expenses goes towards energy, with a specific figure in hand?
Your HVAC installer or maintenance contractor has the answer to the first two. Your invoices will tell you the third.
A partner chosen by its clients
We only develop a connection when a client hotel requests it. Therefore, this connection exists because hoteliers needed it.
